For the 100 years commemoration of the Great War this November Ripley Parish Council decided to plant an orchard with 28 trees which was the number of men Ripley lost in the war.
They asked us at Southern Fruit Trees to provide the fruit trees to remember the fallen men and we were honoured to supply them.
We were happy to advise and help on this lovely project and tried to provide local fruit varieties that people from the area and time might have known.
A plaque was placed around each tree with the name of the person that was lost. They will not be forgotten.
